Abstract

Abstract A gasoline dispensing nozzle has a poppet-type shutoff valve which is operated by means of a rotary shaft sealed into the nozzle housing, the rotary shaft being rotated through a mechanical linkage which is coupled between the said shaft and a manual operating handle. Automatic shutoff of the gasoline flow is effected by means of a diaphragm which is mechanically coupled to the aforementioned linkage and which moves in response to a pressure differential produced when a tank into which the gasoline is being dispensed becomes ''''full.
