Abstract
Abstract VINYL CHLORIDE POLYMER AND COPOLYMER COMPOSITONS ARE PREPARED BY EMULSION POLYMERIZATION OF VINYL CHLORIDE IN THE PRESENCE OF SODIUM SALT OF A-SULFO-FATTY ACIDS. THE COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS ARE IMPROVED BY EMULSIFYING THE VINYL CHLORIDE IN THE PRESENCE OF SODIUM SALTS OF ASULFO-FATTY ACIDS HAVING 12 TO 24, AND PREFERABLY 12 TO 18 CARBON ATOMS, WHEREIN THE SODIUM SALTS OF THE A-SULFO-FATTY ACID HAVE A CONCENTRATION OF 0.6 TO 4.0, AND PREFERABLE 0.8 TO 3.0 PERCENT BY WEIGHT BASED ON THE MONOMERS AND THE POLYMERIZATION IS PERFORMED AT A PH VALUE OF 2 TO 11.
