Abstract
Abstract Apparatus and method are disclosed for stuffing a conglomerate meat mass into a flexible container which comprises a stuffing means, shut-off and/or severing means mounted on the outlet end of said stuffing means comprising a member mounted on the outlet end of the stuffing means and a cooperating moving member adjacent to and aligned with said mounted member and means for advancing and retracting said cooperating moving member into and out of positive engagement with said mounted member wherein such engagement seals said outlet end of the stuffing means, severs product protruding therefrom and stops passage of product therefrom.

The method for automatically stuffing a food casing with food products which comprises: a. forcing a food product under pressure through a stuffing horn into a casing that is mounted thereon; b. interrupting flow of food product at the outlet end of the stuffing horn after a predetermined amount of food product has been fed into the casing; and c. closing and sealing the end of the filled casing.
