Abstract
Abstract A synthetic-resin pipe fitting having a plurality of tubular arms, at least one of which is provided with an annular transverse flange, is provided with a coupling ring by heating the flange to a temperature above the crystallite melting point or the glass-transition temperature, and forcing the ring over the flange. The fitting is made from a memory-effect synthetic resin, preferably cross-linked polyethylene, so that upon cooling the flange is restored to its original relatively rigid condition and undeflected configuration.
