Abstract
Abstract A hydraulically locked work support including a housing having a bore, a sleeve mounted in said bore, a seal at each end of the sleeve in sealing engagement with the bore to define a chamber between the sleeve and the housing, a work support assembly mounted for reciprocal motion in said sleeve and having an outer diameter substantially equal to the inner diameter of said sleeve, a spring biasing said assembly into engagement with a work piece, and a source of hydraulic fluid for pressurizing said chamber to hydraulically lock the assembly in a fixed position within said sleeve.
