Abstract

Abstract In order to unwind coiled wire, such as electrical wire, straight without kinks or knots, the coiled wire is supported on a base plate and the plurality of lines secured to the plate at points symmetrically arranged around the center of the plate converge and are secured together and connected to a clip which can be clipped into a swivel ring, which latter can be hung on a hook adapted to be hung from a rafter or pipe or the like; there are suitable holes in the plate engageable by an end of the coiled wire to hold it when the other end of the coil is unwound so that the tangential force exerted during unwinding rotates the entire support on the swivel; the lines can be utilized also for securing the coiled wire to the base plate during transportation, means being provided for manually carrying the base plate with the coiled wire thereon.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 115 words
A support for unwinding coiled wire, comprising a rigid supporting base for supporting said coil of wire, suspending lines extended from the base in a pattern to suspend the base and the coil in a balanced attitude, and rotatable hanging means to suspend said lines, said hanging means including a hanger, an element to which said lines converge and to which the upper ends of the lines are secured, a rotatable swivel connection between said hanger and said element, said lines being flexible, and means to attach said element to the outer portion of said base when said lines are folded over said coil on said base, whereby said flexible lines form a carrying handle.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 115 words
A support for unwinding coiled wire, comprising a rigid supporting base for supporting said coil of wire, suspending lines extended from the base in a pattern to suspend the base and the coil in a balanced attitude, and rotatable hanging means to suspend said lines, said hanging means including a hanger, an element to which said lines converge and to which the upper ends of the lines are secured, a rotatable swivel connection between said hanger and said element, said lines being flexible, and means to attach said element to the outer portion of said base when said lines are folded over said coil on said base, whereby said flexible lines form a carrying handle.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 30 words
The invention specified in claim 1, and holes near the periphery of said base engageable by the outer end of said coiled wire for unwinding the coil from the inside.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 33 words
The invention specified in claim 1, and holes adjacent the inner periphery of said coil engageable by the inner end of said coil for unwinding from the outside of said coil of wire.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 39 words
The invention specified in claim 1, and said base having handle apertures near the outer periphery thereof, and said element being adapted to be clipped into one of said handle apertures for supporting the coiled wire on said base.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 40 words
The invention specified in claim 1, and a box top to cover said coiled wire on said supporting base, and detachable means to secure said box top to said base thereby to form a portable package together with said base.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 27 words
The invention specified in claim 6, and means on the underface of said base adapted to be engaged by said element of a second support in tandem.
