Abstract

Abstract A mine roof support assembly composed of two independently movable frames each consisting of two or more telescopic props with roof engaging caps carried at their upper ends, the frames being interconnected through piston and cylinder units which enable the positional relationship between the frames to be adjusted. Each roof cap bears a slidable L-shaped cover member and the cover members of the frames have depending limbs which abut one another between the frames. A curved leaf spring is attached to each of the roof caps and has its ends slidably guided on the associated cover member so as to maintain the cover members in engagement with one another.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 126 words
In a movable roof-support assembly for use in mineral mines, said assembly comprising at least two spaced apart individually displaceable frames, each frame having a plurality of telescopic props and a roof cap mounted on the upper ends of the props, the improvement therein comprising: a. a cover member displaceably supported on each said roof cap, said cover member having i. a first portion slidably supported on said roof cap for movement beyond said roof cap centrally towards the spacedapart frame; and ii. a further portion depending from said first portion; and b. resilient means affixed to each said cover member for urging said cover members towards each other and for maintaining said further portions in continuous engagement independent of displacement changes of said spaced-apart frames.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 126 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 25 words
The assembly of claim 1 wherein said resilient means includes curved leaf springs operably disposed between said roof caps and their said associated cover members.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 22 words
The assembly of claim 2 wherein each said leaf spring is attached at its central portion to its said associated roof cap.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 25 words
The assembly of claim 3 wherein the spring ends of each said leaf spring are movably supported on its said associated cover member further portion.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 35 words
The assembly of claim 2 further comprising guide means affixed to each said cover member further portion, said guide means acting to slidably guide the free ends of said leaf spring longitudinally of said spring.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 30 words
The assembly of claim 1 further comprising piston and cylinder units disposed between said telescopic props of said frames, said units operating to adjust the relative positions of said frames.
