Abstract
Abstract WHEREIN R is alkyl, cycloalkyl, haloalkyl or aryl and R'' is hydrogen, alkyl, haloalkyl, cycloalkyl and R'''' is the same or different as R'', or R'' and R'''' are joined by methylene groups to form a heterocyclic ring, by anhydrous hydrogen halide cleavage at a temperature of about 30*-200*C. The products are useful as plant growth regulators. 2-Haloethylphosphonic acids are prepared from 2acyloxyethylphosphonic acids or esters of the formula:
