Abstract

Abstract A dry closet urinal suitable for male or female use and comprising a unitary, plastomeric, hollow body closed at one end and having a neck extending from the other end. The neck terminates in a mouth of ovular shape and the neck is resilient and capable of being deformed manually so as to facilitate use of the urinal where a rigid obstruction, such as a traction or body cast, interferes with normal use of the urinal. Upon release, the neck tends to return to its normal shape and thus provides a body seal.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 3
Claim 1
Independent Claim 327 words
A dry closet urinal of the type for use by a person having immovable body parts or rigid obstructions attached to their bodies comprising, a hollow, elongated body portion which is open at one end and closed at the other end, said body portion being of a unitary, one-piece construction including an integrally formed neck portion adjacent the open end thereof for engagement with said immovable body parts or said rigid obstruction during use of said urinal by said person, said body portion having at least one substantially flat longitudinal side wall for supporting said urinal therein, said neck portion being offset from the flat side wall of said body portion and merging with the opposite side of said body portion, said neck portion sloping away from the axis of said body portion at an obtuse angle and flaring outwardly from said body portion and terminating in an open mouth, said neck portion being of a generally ovular configuration to generally conform to the body parts of said person, said neck portion being made of a plastomeric material being generally resilient and deformable so as to enable manual deformation thereof adjacent said mouth to generally any configuration defined by said body parts and/or said rigid obstruction during engagement therewith to facilitate use and so as to be capable of expanding when released to provide a leg seal with the body of said person or said rigid obstruction when in use, and an elongated handle extending alongside said body portion and spaced in relation therewith being attached to said body portion adjacent the end of said neck portion remote from said open mouth and opposite to the flat side to facilitate and enable selective, manual deformation of the configuration of said neck portion adjacent said open mouth to the configuration defined by said body parts and/or said rigid obstruction and enable placement of said open mouth into tight sealing engagement with said body parts and/or said rigid obstruction.

Claim 3
Dependent Claim 87 words
A dry closet urinal in accordance with claim 1, including finger grip embossment elements disposed on opposite sides of said neck portion adjacent said open mouth for positive gripping contact with the fingers of said person to enable selective, manual deformation of the configuration of said neck portion adjacent said open mouth to conform the configuration thereof to that defined by said body parts and/or said rigid obstruction to enable placement of said open mouth into tight sealing engagement with said body parts and/or said rigid obstruction.
