Abstract DISCLOSED IS A THREE-STAGE PROCESS FOR CONVERTING INTO GASOLINE AND DISTILLATE FUELS A HYDROCARBON FEED RICH IN POLYNUCLEAR AROMATICS. THE FIRST STAGE EMPLOYS A CATALYST COMPRISING AN ALKALI METAL COMPONENT OR AN ALKALINE EARTH METAL COMPONENT OR BOTH, SUPPORTED ON ACTIVATED CARBON. THE SECOND AND THIRD STAGES EMPLOY A CATALYST COMPRISING METALLIC COMPONENTS FROM GROUP VI AND GROUP VIII OF THE PERIODIC TABLE, SUPPORTED ON A REFRACTORY, INORGANIC CRACKING MATRIX.
