Abstract
Abstract Charged particles are concentrated and held in space by means of an unequal, alternating electric field and the resulting beam of particles is directed through a hole in a plate electrode to a target electrode. A gate electrode adjacent the plate electrode may be operated selectively to oppose and enable the passage of the concentrated beam of charged particles to the target.
