Abstract This invention concerns the condensation product of an aldehyde reactant having more than one carbon atom and/or ketone reactant, formaldehyde, an alkylene polyamine, and an alkyl-substituted phenol. These compositions can be used as ashless alkaline additives for lubricating oils.
