Abstract

Abstract Self-excited force variations in rolling pneumatic vehicle tires are a principal source of vehicle shake, roughness, and steering disturbances. These variations in a tire are measured by a tire uniformity machine after which the tire is subjected to a corrective action consisting of the removal of a small amount of tread material at the proper location.
