Abstract
Abstract An electrically conductive wire is plated with a thin film of a magnetically anisotropic substance. A plurality of coils are placed around the wire at different points along its length. Either the wire or the coils are energized by an alternating current, and the signal developed on the other is monitored to detect intrusion of a magnetic body into the vicinity.
