Abstract

Abstract A high frequency parametric amplifier using the quantum mechanical oscillation associated with transitions of electron pairs between two macroscopic quantum states, (Josephson tunneling) as the source of the idler or pumping frequency. An incoming signal causes the relative phase of two such cross coupled quantum amplifiers to change. This produces a change in the low frequency resistance of the device leading to relatively large output voltages.
