Abstract Wherein R is alkylene, phenylene, vinylene, or phenylenealkylene, wherein, ''''alkylene'''' alone or in a combined name, designates an alkylene moiety that is of from one to 10 carbon atoms, and X is -S- or -O-; n is zero or 1; optionally also with an oxazoline as comonomer, are cationically polymerized to polymers containing recurring units of the formula AND, OPTIONALLY, ALSO UNITS OF THE FORMULA WHEREIN G IS AN INTEGER 2 OR 3, M REPRESENTS THE DEGREE OF POLYMERIZATION, AND R'' is hydrogen or a specified radical.
