Abstract DISCLOSED IS A METHOD OF CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION OF TEARING NOTCHES IN METAL CANS. A CONTINUOUSLY ADVANCING METAL MATERIAL FOR THE CANS IS FIRST PROVIDED WITH AN INSULATING MASK HAVING CHANNELS CORRESPONDING TO THE DESIRED PATTERN OF THE TREAING LINES. THE UNCOVERED METAL SURFACE PORTION IN THE CHANNELS IS SUBJECTED TO A CONTROLLABLE ELECTROCHEMICAL ETCHING PROCESS.
