Abstract

Abstract A fracturing method wherein an emulsified fluid is injected into a subterranean formation under sufficient pressure to open a fracture in the formation. The fracturing method is performed by continuously passing the liquid used as the external phase through a conduit to establish a turbulent flow stream, introducing the liquid used as the internal phase into the flow stream at a plurality of locations to progressively increase the concentration of the internal phase, and continuously injecting the emulsion into the formation under sufficient pressure to open a fracture therein. The method can be employed in water external or oil external systems.
