Abstract IN A MAGNETIC RECORDING AND/OR REPRODUCING APPARATUS CAPABLE OF REPRODUCING SIGNALS RECORDED ON A MAGNETIC TAPE DURING MOVEMENT OF THE TAPE IN BOTH FORWARD AND REVERSE DIRECTIONS, AT LEAST TWO MAGNETIC HEADS PICK UP THE SIGNALS FROM THE TAPE AND INDEPENDENT SIGNAL TRANSMITTING LINE ARE PROVIDED FOR TRANSMITTING THE SIGNALS FROM THE CORRESPONDING MAGNETIC HEADS TO A COMMON OUTPUT TERMI- NAL, SUCH SIGNAL TRANSMITTING LINES HAVING SWITCHING MEANS FOR MUTING THE SIGNALS DURING CHANGING OF THE OPERATIVE CONDITION OF THE APPARATUS AND ALSO FOR SELECTING THE SIGNAL OR SIGNALS TO BE REPRODUCING DURING MOVEMENT OF THE TAPE IN THE FORWARD OR REVERSE DIRECTION.
