Abstract A PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR POLLUTION ABATEMENT BY THE TRANSFER CONDITIONING AND DISPOSING OF ALUM SLUDGE. AN APPARATUS IS DISCLOSED CONSISTING OF (1) A HOLDING TANK WHICH RECEIVES SOLIDS FROM THE CLARIFICATION SETTING TANKS OF A WATER OR A WASTE PURIFICATION PLANT; (2) A SYSTEM OF HEAT EXCHANGERS, FOR HEAT RECOVERY AND AUXILIARY HEAT APPLICATION TO RAISE THE TEMPERATURE OF THE INCOMING SLUDGE; (3) A DETENTION VESSEL TO PROVIDE FOR A REACTION TIME; (4) A DECANT TANK; AND (5) A DEWATERING UNIT FOR SEPARATION OF THE SOLIDS FROM THE CONDITIONED SLUDGE.
