Abstract
Abstract Water resistant silicate-perlite insulation materials are made by mixing an aqueous solution of an alkaline ionic silicate and a colloidal amorphous silica sol, adding perlite to said mixture, molding the combined mixture into the desired shape and exposing said shaped article to an acidic substance to set the article rapidly and provide immediate water resistance.
