Abstract
Abstract A personal stock quotation system having a data processing system with a memory having stored therein stock market information relating to a plurality of corporations is provided. The data processing terminal is connected to telephone terminal lines. A stock quotation terminal is provided which has a cradle for a telephone handset. The quotation terminal further includes a coupling means adjacent the cradle, signalling means for generating address and control signals for obtaining the stock information and display means for displaying the stock information obtained from the data processing system. Further features of the stock quotation terminal are touch keys which are utilized for signalling different combinations representative of corporations about which stock information is required.

The stock quotation system of claim 4 wherein said data processing system includes receiving means connected to said telephone lines, said receiving means including a first plurality of filters for passing each of the frequencies utilized by said signal generator, said receiving means further including a second plurality of filters, each of which is similar to one of said filters of said first group, a plurality of detector means each connected to the output of one of said second plurality of filters for detecting a predetermined level of transmisstion of signals at said different frequencies, gating means connected to said detectors to inhibit passage of signals by each of said filters of said first plurality of filters which are adapted to pass signals other than the frequency detected.

The stock quotation system of claim 1 wherein said data processing system includes a plurality of interface modules for entering data and withdrawing data from said data processing system, each of said modules including buffer storages for temporarily storing characters until the particular module is accessed by said computer so that maximum efficiency is made of said data processing system.
