Abstract Novel flame retardant compositions of matter comprising admixture of a polymeric compound and a halo-substituted dihydroxypolyhalomethanonaphthalenedicarboxylic acid or anhydride thereof as exemplified by an admixture of polypropylene and 1,4dihydroxy-5,6,7,8,9,9-hexachloro-1,2,3,4,4a,5,8,8a-octahydro-5,8methano -2,3-naphthaneledicarboxylic acid.
