Abstract
Abstract A PULP-INSULATED WIRE IS SURFACE DYED BY ADVANCING THE WIRE INTO FRICTIONAL ENGAGEMENT WITH RECEPTACLES ON A FREELY ROTATING ROLLER. THIS ROTATES THE ROLLER TO DISPLACE THE RECEPTACLES THROUGH A DYE SOLUTION TO TRANSFER THE DYE SOLUTION IN THE RECEPTACLES TO THE WIRE. IN AN ALTERNATE EMBODIMENT, AIR, UNDER PRESSURE, IS INTRODUCED INTO THE DYE SOLUTION TO FORM A LAYER OF DYE FOAM ON THE SURFACE OF THE SOLUTION SO THAT THE DYE FOAM IS TRANSFERRED BY THE RECEPTACLES TO THE WIRE.
