Abstract

Abstract A support hanger for mounting and supporting each end of an interior lighting fixture well above the ceiling supporting frame, in a vaulted type ceiling. The support hanger includes a pair of upstanding, converging, substantially inverted L-shaped members joined at their upper bend by a cross brace and joined adjacent the bottom ends by an offset, elongated, inverted Ushaped cross brace. The downwardly directed fingers of the elongated, inverted U-shaped cross brace coact with the bottom ends of the inverted L-shaped members to mount the hanger on the ceiling support T-bars while the horizontally projecting ends of the inverted L-shaped members engage a bracket on the luminaire to thereby support the luminaire above the ceiling level.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim 95 words
A support hanger for mounting and supporting an end of an interior lighting fixture in a vaulted modular ceiling system which support hanger comprises: a pair of upstanding converging inverted L-shaped members, cross brace means joining said inverted L-shaped members adjacent the bend therein, and a bottom cross brace connecting said inverted L-shaped members adjacent the bottom ends thereof, said bottom cross brace having an elongated, inverted U-shaped configuration with the downwardly directed end portions of said elongated inverted Ushaped cross brace being offset with respect to the bottom portion of said inverted L-shaped members.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 95 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 135 words
A support hanger mounting system for mounting a lighting fixture in a vaulted modular ceiling system comprising: a lighting fixture, a pair of brackets mounted to the top side of said lighting fixture, said brackets including a pair of parallel channels therethrough; a support hanger having a pair of horizontally extending rods disposed in said channels at each end of said luminaire, said support hangers including a pair of downwardly diverging support rods extending from the ends of said horizontal rods, an inverted U-shaped cross brace joining said downwardly diverging support rods adjacent the bottoms thereof, the ends of said downwardly diverging support rods and the downwardly extending ends of said inverted U-shaped cross brace forming pairs of gripping fingers to mount said lighting fixture on the cross support bars of a vaulted modular ceiling.
Claim 4
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 28 words
The support hanger mounting system of claim 2 wherein said inverted U-shaped cross brace is secured to said downwardly diverging support rods at different distances from its ends.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 88 words
A support hanger for mounting and supporting each end of an interior lighting fixture in a vaulted modular ceiling system, each support hanger comprising: a pair of upstanding inverted L-shaped members; cross brace means securing said inverted L-shaped members in spaced relationship adjacent the lower end thereof, said cross brace member having an elongated inverted U-shape including a horizontal portion and downwardly extending finger portions, said downwardly extending finger portions being spaced from the adjacent inverted L-shaped members by different distances and forming pairs of gripping fingers therewith.
Claim 7
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 27 words
A support hanger according to claim 4 wherein a second cross brace is attached to both of said upstanding converging, inverted L-shaped member adjacent the bend therein.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 35 words
A support hanger according to claim 5 wherein said second cross brace member has a trapezoidal configuration and is secured to each of said upstanding inverted L-shaped members on both their vertical and horizontal components.
