Abstract
Abstract A pressure applying and pressure releasing device consisting of a spring pressed rod in connection with a gauge to apply a measured degree of pressure by means of said rod against a given area and said rod has in connection therewith a stop member to hold said rod in its pressure applying position and means to actuate said stop member to release said rod from its pressure applying position.

A device for applying and releasing pressure, having in combination a housing including a handle portion, a rod-like pressure applying member extending partially outwardly of said housing and being movable axially thereof, a coil spring disposed about said pressure applying member, said pressure applying member carrying a stop means for said spring at one end of said spring, a stop means for said spring at the other end thereof comprising an elongated member pivotally secured in said housing on an axis disposed in a direction transversely of the axis of said housing and having a finger engaging portion extending outwardly of said housing and having a spring stopping portion extending inwardly of said housing, said spring stopping portion being engaged upon said spring being compressed by movement of said pressure applying member inwardly of said housing, and said outwardly extending portion being engaged for operation by a finger of the hand holding said handle portion for a quick release of said spring.
