Abstract

Abstract A rigid, easily assembled table having few parts, and a method for fabricating such a table, preferably from a single sheet of material, are disclosed. The table comprises a flat top member and a plurality of support members extending obliquely through the top member, said support members being secured together at their apices above the surface of the top member. An additional feature allows the top member of the table to be vertically adjusted without dissembling the component parts.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 13
Claim 1
Independent Claim 61 words
A table comprising a flat top member and at least two spaced pairs of support members extending obliquely therethrough, each of said support members having an elongated horizontal crosssection, and each of said support members of each pair being adjacent and secured to only the other support member of said pair at their apices above the surface of said top member.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 61 words
A table comprising a flat top member and at least two spaced pairs of support members extending obliquely therethrough, each of said support members having an elongated horizontal crosssection, and each of said support members of each pair being adjacent and secured to only the other support member of said pair at their apices above the surface of said top member.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 17 words
A table according to claim 1, wherein said support members are secured together in fixed angular relationship.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 35 words
A table according to claim 2, further comprising additional support means for said top member, said additional means appending from said support members and being vertically positioned at the height desired for said top member.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 24 words
A table according to claim 1, wherein said support members are secured together in such a manner that their angular relationship may be varied.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 45 words
A table according to claim 4, further comprising additional support means for said top member, said additional means appending from each of said support members and being vertically positioned at at least one desired top member height, whereby said top member is rendered vertically adjustable.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 26 words
A table according to claim 1, wherein said support members comprise upright legs of at least two generally U-shaped members each having an elongated support base.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 37 words
A table according to claim 6, wherein said top member is cut from the center of a rectangular sheet of material, and wherein each of said U-shaped members comprises the semi-circumferential peripheral trimming from said top member.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 14 words
A table according to claim 7, wherein said top member is oval in shape.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 16 words
A table according to claim 7, burn-finished and provided with at least one coating of polyurethane.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 33 words
A table according to claim 6, wherein said top member comprises two sections secured together by fastening means, and each of said U-shaped members comprises the peripheral trimming from each of said sections.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 22 words
A table according to claim 10, wherein said fastening means comprises a metal plate glued to each of said top member sections.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 22 words
A table according to claim 6, wherein each of said upright legs of said generally U-shaped members has an upwardly tapering width.
