Abstract

Abstract A method of seed bed preparation, and soil improvement, conditioning, and stabilization comprising coating soil particles with a reactive high molecular weight cationic polymer or latex so as to form coated, positively charged soil particles and reacting coated, charged soil particles with an anionic alkalitreated lignin binder to provide a film or a network on the soil of sufficient wet strength to provide the soil with resistance to rainfall and water runoff. In addition to effectively stabilizing the soil, the soil treatment method accelerates the rate of seed germination and decreases the loss of valuable fertilizer material and seed.
