Abstract A PROCESS IS DISCLOSED FOR THE ANIONIC CATALYTIC POLYMERIZATION OF LACTAMS OR MIXTURES OF LACTAMS IN WHICH AN ISOCYANATE COMPOUND IS USED AS A PROMOTER CONDUCTED IN THE PRESENCE OF A POLYETHER SOLUBLE IN MOLTEN LACTAM. THE RESULTING POLYMERIZATION REACTION OCCURS RAPIDLY IN THE ORDER OF MINUTES, PRODUCING A POLYAMIDE OF VERY HIGH IMPACT STRENGTH.
