Abstract
Abstract PARTS TO BE WELDED TOGETHER ARE SUPPRTED WITH THE SURFACES TO BE JOINED IN CONTACT WITH ONE ANOTHER. A RESONATOR MEMBER IS COUPLED TO AT LEAST ONE OF THE PARTS AND AN ORBITING MASS OSCILLATOR IS CONNECTED TO SAID RESONATOR MEMBER. THE ORBITING MASS OSCILLATOR IS DRIVEN AT A FREQUENCY SUCH AS TO CAUSE RESONANT ELASTIC VIBRATION OF THE ASSOCIATED RESONATOR MEMBER SLIGHTLY BELOW THE PEAK RESONANT FREQUENCY. THE SONIC ENERGY IS TRASMITTED TO THE SURFACES TO BE JOINED, GENERATING HEAT AT SUCH SURFACES THEREBY FUSSING THE PARTS TOGETHER.
