Abstract
Abstract An arc welding electrode for use in welding processes in air; devoid of external flux, and having a mild steel sheath enclosing a core containing by weight of the electrode 1.5-4.5 percent aluminum, 0.3-1.6 percent manganese, 0.0-0.6 percent silicon, 515 percent calcium fluoride, 1-8 percent arc stabilizers of magnesium oxide, alkali or alkaline earth metals, 1-4 percent slag modifiers of alumina, silica, titania, manganese oxide, iron oxide or zirconia, and the remainder iron.
