Abstract A HYDROCARBON CONVERSION APPARATUS OR VESSEL FOR USE IN MIXED-PHASE, FIXED-BED CATALYTIC SYSTEMS. THE VESSEL IS EQUIPPED WITH AN INTERNAL VAPOR-LIQUID SEPARATION COMPARTMENT FROM WHICH A PRINCIPALLY VAPOROUS PHASE IS REMOVED. REMOVAL OF THIS VAPOROUS PHASE SIGNIFICANTLY INHIBITS FOAMING IN THE OUTLET LINE THROUGH WHICH THE PRODUCT EFFLUENT IS WITHDRAWN.
