Abstract

Abstract A card reader having a combination of electro-mechanical modules, each of which operate independently of one another and yet when spatially positioned with respect to one another perform the machine functions of card transport and card reading. A pickpush module, comprising a picker knife and a pusher arm, cooperates with a card carrying module which includes rolls for moving cards through a visible wait station to a read station. A read head within the read station reads the cards.
