Abstract DISCLOSED HEREIN IS AN ADHESIVE COMPOSITION COMPRISING (A) A POLYVINYL ALCOHOL RESIN, (B) GLYOXAL AND (C) A POLYOL SELECTED FROM THE GROUP CONSISTING OF CIS 1,2POLYOLS AND CERTAIN 1,3-POLYOLS DISPERSED IN AN AQUEOUS MEDIUM. THE ADHESIVE COMPOSITIONS MAY CONTAIN MINOR AMOUNTS OF ADJUVANTS SUCH AS INERT FILLERS OR EXTENDERS, METHYL CELLULOSE, POTASSIUM TRIPOLYPHOSPHATE, SODIUM ACETATE AND MIXTURES THEREOF.
