Abstract
Abstract Novel 1-alkyl-4-bis(halogenoalkylene)amino-3,5-dinitrobenzene and 1-alkyl-4-bis(hydroxyalkylene)amino-3,5-dinitrobenzene derivatives are disclosed as well as the use of the halogenated compounds as pre-emergent herbicides for the elimination of broadleaf weeds and grasses. The hydroxyalkylene compounds serve as useful intermediates in the preparation of the corresponding halogenated derivatives which are active pre-emergent herbicides.
