Abstract
Abstract Silanes R-Si Ya Q3 a where R is unsubstituted or halo, alkoxy or nitrile substituted hydrocarbon radical, one of Y and Q is ON CR''R'''' and the other is O(DO)nR'''''', a a number from 0.1 to 2.9, where R'' is a hydrocarbon radical, R'''' is H or C1 5 alkyl, or R'' and R'''' together are divalent hydrocarbon radicals, R'''''' is C1 4 aliphatic hydrocarbon radical, D is C1 8 alkylene radical and n O, 1, 2 or 3; are prepared by reacting RSiEaQ3 a with YH where E is halogen or acyloxy. They may be used particularly as cross-linking agents for polydiorganosiloxanes having reactive terminal groups on the chain to give elastomer forming compositions which are storage stable in the absence of water and which cure to form elastomers in the presence of water at about 20* C.
