Abstract

Abstract An air line lubricator has a resilient flapper which normally closes about a venturi oil feeding passage. The flapper may act in either direction upon the passage of a large flow to permit bypass of the venturi. A simple retaining ring with a pivoted latch holds the reservoir on the lubricator housing.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 4
Claim 1
Independent Claim 211 words
An air line lubricator comprising a housing having an inlet at one side and an outlet at the other side with a bypass passage running therebetween, the passage having an upper wall and a lower wall, venturi tube means mounted in the passage along the upper wall and oriented in the path of flow through the housing and providing clearance with the side walls and lower wall of the passage, a generally rectangular resilient flapper having at its lower end an enlarged portion presenting an upwardly facing shoulder, apertured retaining means in the lower wall receiving the upper portion of the flapper, and supporting means holding the flapper upward with its shoulder butting up against the retaining means, the flapper being notched at its upper end to conform to the shape of the venturi tube means and its mounting to substantially close the passage except on occasion of heavy pressure differential thereacross in either direction whereupon the flapper will flex to permit flow through the passage, an oil reservoir mounted on the housing, and means to supply oil from the reservoir to the inside of said venturi tube, the mounting of the lower end of the flapper being accessible from the outside of the housing to facilitate removal of the flapper.

Dependent Claim 211 words

Claim 3
Dependent Claim 24 words
An air line lubricator as claimed in claim 1 wherein the support means is a plate secured against the bottom side of the housing.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 23 words
An air line lubricator as claimed in claim 1 wherein the reservoir is disposed against the underside of the housing over said plate.
