Abstract

Abstract A vehicle seat has a base on which is pivotally mounted a seat back having a rigid back frame and to the back frame is releasably secured a cushion frame. A crash pad is secured to the rigid back frame, the pad being formed of thin deformable metal covered with a plastic coating and the pad extending over and interlocking with the frame top. A torsion spring in the frame urges the seat back forwardly.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 143 words
In a vehicle chair structure, a base, a seat frame carried thereby, a tubular metal back frame mounted on said seat frame and including two upright sides, a horizontal top bar interconnecting the tops of said sides and a horizontal base interconnecting the bottoms of said sides, said frame being provided at its top with depending pins and at itS base with mounting angles, a rigid inner cushion-equipped panel having a top stiffener member apertured to receive said pins and a lower flange alignable with said mounting angles of said back frame when said inner panel is raised to cause said apertured stiffener member to receive said pins, and means for releasably anchoring said lower flange upon said mounting angles with said inner panel in raised position; and back panel means secured to said tubular frame for covering the back of said seat.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 143 words

Claim 3
Dependent Claim 73 words
The structure of claim 1 wherein said tubular frame further comprises a cross tube located below said top bar and interconnecting the sides of said tubular frame, and said back panel is attached to said frames by means of screws secured to said cross bar adjacent the top of said back panel and by means of side screws attached to the sides of said tubular frame adjacent the bottom of said back panel.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 55 words
The structure of claim 2 further comprising a crash pad securable to the upper rear surface of said back panel and including a top edge extending over and clamping against the top edge of said inner cushion-equipped panel to prevent tearing of the cushion from said panel by forcing said cushion against said stiffener member.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 17 words
The structure of claim 1 in which said cushion-equipped panel includes an aluminum panel receiving a cushion.
