Abstract

Abstract A floating nut device including a receptacle portion having side openings receiving tabs projecting outwardly from a nut and providing clearance to allow floating movement of the nut, the receptacle including an exteriorly knurled tubular portion to be extended through an opening in a workpiece and bent outwardly at its end to form a flange used in connecting the assembly to the workpiece. The nut may be retained by one member of spring material having deflectable walls to allow replacement of the nut, while the tubular portion is of malleable material to permit the flange to be bent.
