Abstract
Abstract A roller retraction mechanism for a belt assembly module of the type employing an endless photoconductive belt around a plurality of rollers. One of the rollers is mounted for rotation in a yoke which is pivotally mounted on an axis normal to its axis of rotation, and a toggle leakage arrangement is connected to the yoke for relatively moving the yoke axially along said pivotal axis.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
127 words
A roller retraction mechanism for use in a belt assembly of the type having a frame and a plurality of rollers mounted thereon for supporting an endless belt therearound and wherein one of the rollers drives the belt around the rollers comprising: a yoke member rotatably supporting another of the rollers about an axis of rotation, means for pivotally supporting said yoke member relative to the frame for producing tracking of the belt, a toggle mechanism connected between said yoke member and the frame of the assembly and actuable in one condition of operation moving said member in one direction for tightening the belt on the rollers and for moving said member in the opposite direction for producing slack in the belt sufficiently to permit removal thereof.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
51 words
The mechanism of claim 1 wherein said yoke member is connected to the frame by means of a resilient device for permitting limited movement of the yoke member relative to the frame, and for normally urging said member outwardly relative thereto, said device producing tension of the belt by said urging.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
58 words
The mechanism of claim 1 wherein said yoke member includes an element connected to the frame for support thereby, said element extending substantially normal from the axis of rotation of said other roller between the ends thereof, and wherein the mechanism includes means for mounting the element for pivotal movement relative to the frame about a pivotal axis.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
17 words
The mechanism of claim 3 wherein the directional movement of said member is along said pivotal axis.
