Abstract

Abstract Free-flowing, non-tacky polyester resin compositions for use in molding and a method for the preparation of same wherein a polyester resin, a monomer, reinforcing fibers, an initiator, a thickener and a charge filler are mixed in at least four stages wherein at least the polyester resin, the monomer, the reinforcing fibers, the initiator and the charge filler are mixed in a first stage at ambient temperatures, the balance of the components are added and the resulting mixture mixed in a second stage until the composition has a dough-like consistence, the resulting composition is mixed in a third stage while cooling and the composition is mixed in a fourth stage in the presence of lamellar filler to imbed the filler in the composition whereby the composition is relatively non-tacky and free-flowing.
