Abstract THIS INVENTION RELATES TO AN IMPROVED NUCLEAR FUEL COMPOSITION CHARACTERIZED AS A HYPOSTOICHIOMETRIC SOLID SOLUTION OF AN OXIDE OF PLUTONIUM AND URANIUM, HAVING A SURFACE-TO-VOLUME RATIO OF GREATER THAN 100 IN.-1 AND A GAS-RELEASE INDEX OF NO MORE THAN 0.1 CC./G. OF FUEL AS MEASURED AT 1600*C., AND TO THE PROCESS FOR MAKING SAME.
