Abstract THE NOVEL ANODE MAY BE USED IN THE ELECTROLYSIS OF AN AQUEOUS SOLUTION SUCH AS OF ALKALI METAL CHORIDE. THE ANODE INCLUDES A BASE MEMBER HAVING A CONDUCTIVE COATING OR SURFACE COMPRISING AN OXY-COMPOUND OF A PLATINUM GROUP METAL SUCH AS RUTHENIUM AND AN ALKALINE EARTH METAL, TYPICALLY CALCIUM, OR A RARE EARTH METAL SUCH AS LANTHANUM.
