Abstract
Abstract The present disclosure relates to a process and apparatus for the heat-treatment, especially the drying or steaming of materials which can be stressed in the lengthwise direction. More particularly, the present disclosure is directed to the contactfree heat-treatment of materials wherein during at least a portion of the treatment process the material being treated is conveyed contact-free around at least one drum on a cushion of the treatment medium.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 15
Claim 1
Independent Claim
67 words
The apparatus of claim 1 in which said blower drum means comprises a rotatable perforated blower drum and the means within said blower drum means comprises a stationary drum, said stationary drum having one portion impermeable to said treatment medium and another portion permeable to said treatment medium, said other portion being positioned adjacent to the portion of the perforated drum surrounded by the material being treated.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
60 words
The apparatus of claim 2, in which the blower drum means are provided with nozzle means which are directed in the direction of material passage and which are inclined from the center of the working width toward the drum faces in such a way that the treatment medium is deflected toward the two drum faces to obtain a spreading effect.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
23 words
The apparatus of claim 2, in which the blower drum means includes a slat drum, said drum having nozzle means between the slats.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
49 words
The apparatus of claim 1 in which the blower drum means comprises a rotatable blower drum, the circumference of said blower drum having obliquely disposed guide elements for deflecting the treatment medium flowing out of the blower drum in the direction of the travel of the material being treated.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
20 words
The apparatus of claim 5 in which the blower drum moves at a higher speed than that of the material.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
30 words
The apparatus of claim 1, in which said suction drum means contains baffle means disposed at that portion of the drum which is not covered with the material being treated.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
32 words
The apparatus of claim 1, in which the blower drum means and the suction drum means are sieve drum means which can be optionally used as suction drums or as blower drums.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
23 words
The apparatus of claim 1, in which the suction drum means are provided with axial fan means having a reversible direction of rotation.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
29 words
The apparatus of claim 1 which further comprises padder means provided in front of the treatment housing for impregnating the material before it is introduced into the treatment housing.
Claim 10
Independent Claim
305 words
An apparatus for the treatment of continuous lengths of material which comprises a treatment housing that is divided by a lengthwise partition means into a treatment chamber and a fan chamber, said chambers being divided by transverse partition means into first and second treatment chambers and fan chambers, respectively; at least one blower drum means rotatably disposed within said first treatment chamber; at least one suction drum means rotatably disposed within said second treatment chamber; means for introducing the length of material to be treated into the first treatment chamber; discharge means for removing the material from the second treatment chamber; said blower drum means and the suction drum means being arranged in said chambers so that the length of material passing therethrough is conveyed initially by said blower drum means and then by said suction drum means, and is supported alternately on opposite sides by successive drum means, said material surrounding a portion of said blower drum means and contacting a portion of the suctiOn drum means; fan means for passing a treatment medium through said blower drum means under excess pressure and for causing a suction draft in the suction drum means; stationary drum means axially disposed within each of said blower drum means, said stationary drum means having a portion impermeable to the treatment medium adjacent to that portion of the blower drum means not surrounded with the material being treated; and stationary baffle means provided in the suction drum means adjacent to that portion of the suction drum means which is not in contact with the material being treated, the excess pressure in said blower drum means being sufficient to provide a treatment medium cushion between the blower drum means and said material whereby the material is conveyed contact-free around said blower means and in contact with said suction drum means.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
39 words
The apparatus of claim 11 in which said fan means produces an excess pressure in said blower drum means which is larger than the weight per unit area of the material surrounding a portion of said blower drum means.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
21 words
The apparatus of claim 11, in which sieve sheets are provided in the treatment housing above and beneath the drum means.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim
41 words
The apparatus of claim 11, which further comprises padder means in front of the treatment housing for impregnating the material to be treated and squeeze roller means disposed in said padder means for controlling the residual moisture content of the material.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim
45 words
The apparatus of claim 11, in which the transverse partition means in the fan chamber contains a variable opening means thereof which the treatment medium may pass from the fan chamber subjected to an excess pressure into the fan chamber subjected to a suction draft.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim
27 words
The apparatus of claim 11, which further comprises a heated sump at the bottom of the treatment housing for permitting the apparatus to function as a steamer.
