Abstract
Abstract OPEN MATS OF INTERBONDED CONTINUOUS COILED FILAMENTS ARE PRODUCED BY PREHEATING THE CONTINUOUSLY ADVANCING FILAMENTS, E.G. AS THEY LEAVE THE EXTRUDER AND PREFERABLY BY EXPOSURE TO INTENSE INFRA-RED RADIATION, AND THEN PERMITTING BRIEF FREE FALL BEFORE RIGIDIFYING THE FILAMENTS ARE SUPPORTING THE MAT IN A QUENCH BATH.
