Abstract A SILVER DYE BLEACH PHOTOGRAPHIC EMULSION SENSITIVE TO A PRIMARY COLOR IS DYED WITH A DIFFUSION-RESISTANT AZO DYE THAT HAS AN AUXOCHROMIC GROUP WHICH GIVES THE DYE AN ABSORPTION MAXIMUM IN THAT PRIMARY COLOR BUT WHICH GROUP IS BLOCKED BY SUBSTITUTION WITH A BLOCKING SUBSTITUENT THAT SHIFTS THAT MAXIMUM AWAY FROM SAID COLOR AND IS READILY SAPONIFIED DURING SILVER DYE BLEACH PROCESSING.
