Abstract BULB-ENDED REINFORCING FILAMENTS ARE PREPARED BY MELTING FILAMENTS AT SPACED LOCATIONS. THE SURFACE TENSION OF THE MOLTEN FILAMENT CAUSES A BALL TO FORM ON THE END OF ONE OR MORE FILAMENTS. SUBSEQUENT COOLING PROVIDES A USEFUL REINFORCING ELEMENT FOR PLASTICS AND THE LIKE.
