Abstract
Abstract THIS INVENTION DISCLOSES A METHOD OF TREATING GLASS FIBERS WHICH ARE INCORPORATED INTO AND THEREBY REINFORCE THE CONTINUOUS PHASE OF ELASTOMERIC PRODUCTS SUCH AS RUBBER TIRES AND RUBBER BELTS. THE INVENTIVE METHOD CAN BE USED TO TREAT GLASS FIBERS AT THE TIME THEY ARE FORMED. THE METHOD COMPRISES APPLYING TO THE FIBERS A FIRST COATING OF AN ELASTOMERIC, ELASTOMERIC-COMPATIBLE OR ELASTOMERICBASED COMPOSITION AND, WHILE THIS FIRST COATING IS STILL WET OR AT LEAST NOT DRY, APPLYING TO THE FIBERS A SECOND COATING OF AN ELASTOMERIC-BASED COMPOSITION.
