Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim 96 words
A method of treating an asbestos-cement sheet having a textured surface which contains a deposition of bloom comprising the steps of: a. removing bloom from major portions of the textured surface, more from the high portions thereof than from the low portions thereof, while leaving sufficient amounts of bloom on the sheet to cover substantial portions of the textured surface, and b. polishing the textured surface, c. the removal of bloom and polishing of the surface removing only minute quantities of asbestos-cement composition and not noticeably raising the asbestos fibers above the surface of the sheet.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 96 words
A method of treating an asbestos-cement sheet having a textured surface which contains a deposition of bloom comprising the steps of: a. removing bloom from major portions of the textured surface, more from the high portions thereof than from the low portions thereof, while leaving sufficient amounts of bloom on the sheet to cover substantial portions of the textured surface, and b. polishing the textured surface, c. the removal of bloom and polishing of the surface removing only minute quantities of asbestos-cement composition and not noticeably raising the asbestos fibers above the surface of the sheet.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 23 words
A method of treating an asbestos-cement sheet as recited in claim 1, wherein the bloom is removed by a resilient, compressible abrasive material.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 35 words
A method of treating an asbestos-cement sheet as recited in claim 2, wherein both removal of bloom and polishing of the surface are carried out in the same operation by the resilient compressible abrasive material.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 29 words
A method of treating an asbestos-cement sheet as recited in claim 2, wherein the abrasive material comprises a resilient, compressible fibrous matrix to which fine abrasive material is bonded.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 18 words
A method of treating as asbestos-cement sheet as recited in claim 2, wherein the abrasive material is fibrous.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 143 words
In a method of producing a realistic stone-like textured surface on a cementitious sheet containing a simulated stone texture and a deposition of bloom, the step of a. buffing the textured surface with a relatively fine abrasive material of sufficient resilience, compressibility and thickness such that the abrasive material contacts both the highest and the lowest portions of the textured surface with greater pressure being exerted on the higher portions than on the lower portions, b. the amount of pressure applied and the abrasion being such that bloom is removed from high portions of the textured surface and is left on low portions thereof, and substantially the entire textured surface is polished by the abrasive material, thus producing a noticeable contrast between the color of substantial portions of the textured surface and causing the sheet to resemble the finish of polished natural stone.
Claim 8
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 40 words
A method of forming a cementitious sheet as recited in claim 6, wherein the sheet includes asbestos fibers distributed throughout the sheet, and wherein substantially all the fibers adjacent the textured surface thereof are beneath the surface of the sheet.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 31 words
A method of forming a cementitious sheet as recited in claim 6, wherein the abrasive material comprises a resilient, compressible matrix of fibrous material having a relatively fine abrasive bonded thereto.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 18 words
A method of forming a cementitious sheet as recited in claim 6, wherein the abrasive material is fibrous.
