Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 14 words
The process of claim 1 wherein said polycyclic aromatic compound is an aromatic endoperoxide.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 12 words
The process of claim 1 where said energy is thermal contact energy.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 11 words
The process of claim 1 wherein said energy is actinic radiation.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 12 words
The process of claim 4 wherein said actinic radiation is infrared radiation.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 14 words
The process of claim 4 wherein said actinic radiation is short wave ultraviolet radiation.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 43 words
The process of claim 1 wherein said energy applied is applied to the oxidized state and is sufficient for reduction so as to form a fluorescent pattern, and said pattern is erased by applying long wave ultraviolet radiation in the presence of air.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 77 words
An information storage and retrieval process which comprises irradiating a substrate with a differential energy pattern of activating light, said substrate including a polycyclic aromatic compound having an oxidized and a reduced state, and being fluorescent in said reduced state, said compound being capable of being oxidized by long wave ultraviolet radiation, and reduced by short wave ultraviolet and lower, or infrared radiation, said energy used for irradiating being that which changes the state of said compound.
